Change is challenging because it involves something we were certain about becoming uncertain.

One of the clearest examples of this is the uncertainty the pandemic created -- uncertainty about our jobs, our family’s health, our living situations, the future of things.

Or there’s uncertainty brought on by climate change - what does it mean for our food system? My children’s lives? The city I live in? The amount of division in our world?

Uncertainty can also come with positive changes too. A new job or new relationship fills our hearts with excitement but also creates anxiety as we leave the old and familiar behind.

And then there’s the uncertainty that comes with consciousness expansion. New insights or views shift how we see the world. While it’s exhilarating it also brings questions about how to integrate this newness into our worlds; what does it mean for our place within it all?

This month’s theme is an invitation to explore the rich dance between certainty & uncertainty.

In these dynamic times that we’re living in where things are changing at a rapid pace, how can we be in relationship with uncertainty in a way that’s grounding, generative and liberating? As things continue to change, what can we be certain about within ourselves, the Universe, our relationships and the world?

I hope you join me this month in our online community and drop-in Circle to unpack all the nuances within this dance.

Prompts:

  • What can you be certain about even in times of massive change? What does it mean to be certain about something?

  • “The only certainty is that nothing is certain.” - Pliny the Elder, Roman author, naturalist and philosopher from the 1st century (25-79 AD). Uncertainty has been pondered by great philosophers for centuries. What have you learned from experiences of uncertainty in your life? What wisdom has uncertainty taught you? What does that wisdom offer us as a collective for navigating these changing times?
